Moira Lakes – Terms and Conditions

By making a booking, attending an activity, purchasing a voucher, or visiting the site, you agree to these Terms.1. About Us

2.1 Public Bookings
Public bookings made through our online booking system must be paid in full at the time of booking unless otherwise stated.2.2 Group Bookings
For organised groups (including Scouts, schools, youth organisations and private groups):- A deposit (typically 10% of the total booking value) is required to secure the booking. Deposits are non-refundable.
- Final numbers must be confirmed at least 7 days before the event unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- The balance is due on the day of the event unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Moira Lakes reserves the right to charge based on the confirmed numbers provided prior to the event.
2.3 Minimum Charges (where applicable)
Some events or group bookings (for example retreats that include food or additional services) may be subject to a minimum charge. Where applicable, the minimum charge will be stated at the time of booking (for example, a minimum of £350).3. Cancellations, Refunds and Rescheduling
3.1 Customer Cancellations
- Full refund: cancel at least 7 days before the scheduled activity start time.
- Less than 7 days: bookings are non-refundable.
3.2 Illness or Unforeseen Circumstances
Where cancellation is due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, we will normally offer a rescheduled date. Refunds remain at the discretion of Moira Lakes.4. Weather, Water Conditions and Safety
Many activities at Moira Lakes take place outdoors and are subject to weather and environmental conditions.Moira Lakes reserves the right to postpone, amend, reschedule or cancel sessions where conditions are considered unsafe, including (without limitation): lightning, high winds, unsafe water temperature, flooding, equipment failure, instructor illness, or any other safety-related concern.Where we cancel for safety reasons, we will normally offer a rescheduled date or credit. Refunds may be offered at our discretion. Safety decisions are final.5. Age, Supervision and Consent
Minimum ages vary by activity and are stated on the relevant booking pages.- Under 16: participants must have a responsible adult present on site unless attending as part of an organised group under designated supervision.
- Under 18: a parent or legal guardian must complete the required waiver and consent documentation. For organised group bookings, the group leader is responsible for ensuring appropriate parental consent has been obtained.
- Water activities: for water-based activities (including swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking), children aged 13 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult on the water unless attending as part of an organised group under direct instructor supervision.
6. Waivers, Medical Declarations and Fitness to Participate
All participants must complete the required waiver and medical declaration before taking part.Participants must disclose relevant medical conditions that may affect safe participation (including allergies and any medication that may be required during activities).It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure they are fit and capable of taking part safely. If you are unsure, you should seek medical advice before participating.7. Inherent Risk and Natural Environment
Activities at Moira Lakes are physical and take place in a natural outdoor environment. Participants acknowledge that activities may involve inherent risks, including slips, falls, immersion in water, cold water exposure, changing weather, uneven ground, natural variations in the lakebed, wildlife and equipment-related hazards.Participants must follow staff instructions and safety briefings at all times.Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.8. Behaviour, Safety and Removal From Activities
All participants and visitors must behave responsibly and follow staff instructions at all times.Alcohol is not permitted on site.If behaviour is unsafe, disruptive, intimidating, or participants refuse to follow instructions, Moira Lakes may issue a warning and/or remove individuals from activities. Where removal is due to misconduct or safety concerns, no refund will be given.9. Arrival, Late Attendance and Session Changes
Participants should arrive in time for check-in and safety briefing.If a participant arrives late, we will provide a safety briefing before participation where reasonably possible.Moira Lakes reserves the right to amend session times, activities or instructors where reasonably necessary.10. Visitors and Access to Site
Moira Lakes is a private commercial premises and is not a public park or open-access land.
Access to the site is limited to:
- Customers with a valid booking for an activity;
- Participants accompanying a booked customer (where supervision requirements apply);
- Customers using the on-site café or Paddle Pizzeria;
- Customers visiting the on-site retail shop (Wet Outdoors);
- Spectators accompanying a booked participant.
Visitors may not use the site for recreational purposes (including dog walking or general leisure access) without a valid booking or legitimate commercial reason for being on site.
Moira Lakes reserves the right to refuse entry or require any person to leave the premises where access is not authorised.
11. Dogs on Site
Well-behaved dogs are welcome on site under the following conditions:- Dogs must be kept on a lead and supervised at all times.
- Dogs must not be left unattended, including while you are taking part in an activity.
- Dogs are not permitted in the water.
- Owners must clean up after their dogs (poo bags and bins are provided).
- Visiting dogs must be covered by suitable pet insurance.
12. Hire Equipment, Lost or Damaged Items and Site Rules
12.1 Hire Equipment
All hire equipment (including wetsuits, buoyancy aids, paddleboards and kayaks) must be returned in the condition provided. Participants may be charged for repair or replacement where equipment is lost, damaged, or misused.12.2 Personal Property
Moira Lakes is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property. Please keep valuables secure.12.3 Parking and Speed Limits
Please follow all on-site signage and staff instructions. Speed limits apply across the site and access lane. Vehicles parked in non-designated areas or obstructing access may be required to move.13. Fires and BBQs
Public customers may book designated BBQ facilities where available.Campfire areas are reserved for group bookings only.All fires and BBQs must comply with staff instructions and safety guidelines.14. CCTV and Photography

CCTV operates on site for safety and security purposes.14.2 Photography
Photographs and video may be taken during activities for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to appear in marketing material, you must notify Moira Lakes in advance. For participants under 18, parental consent applies.15. Gift Vouchers and Experience Vouchers
Gift vouchers and experience vouchers:- Are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase unless otherwise stated.
- Must be redeemed online at the time of booking.
- Are subject to seasonal availability and standard booking availability.
- Cannot be exchanged for cash.
- Are non-refundable and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen.
